Orbiting WASP-142 | 730.9 parsecs away

Share

WASP-142 b is a Super-Jupiter exoplanet (an exceptionally massive gas giant), about 17.1 times the radius of Earth. Its scorching equilibrium temperature of 2000 K (1727°C) makes it far too hot for liquid water. The planet completes one orbit around its star every 2.1 Earth days. It was discovered in 2016 using the transit method. It orbits the F-type star WASP-142, located approximately 731 parsecs (2384 light-years) from Earth.
